Removing the Shortcut arrow from Desktop Icons:

  • Goto Start then Run and Enter regedit.
  • Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile.
  • Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
  • You may need to restart Windows XP.
